APOA President's Message on Founding of the Young Surgeon's Forum
Dear Colleagues,
Brothers, Sisters, and APOA FamilyIt is an honor to share the continued growth and vision of the APOA – Young Surgeons Forum (YSF), an inclusive platform uniting young orthopaedic surgeons across the Asia-Pacific region.
APOA YSF was established as a dynamic and inclusive platform to support the professional development of early-career orthopaedic surgeons. We are proud to represent a diverse group from over 24 countries accross Asia Pacific, united by a shared commitment to clinical excellence, academic growth, and regional collaboration.
Our forum continues to prioritize initiatives that reflect our core values that are inclusivity, knowledge of development, profesionalism and innovation.
Over the past year, we have maintained a steady rhythm of activities that reflect these goals, with the support of APOA Board and comraderies betwen the YSF members we develop a bond of fundament collaboration that surely grows with time and move our organization forward.
We held regular online committee meetings to share ideas, develop initiatives, and ensure our programs remain relevant to the needs of our members. Initiatives like the Coffee Talk & Sharing Sessions have created informal but valuable spaces for mentorship and peer engagement.
We also strengthened our collaboration with international partners, notably through a joint session with the SICOT Young Surgeons Committee. Our participation in the 7th International Meet of APOA YSF, APOA Congress 2024 in Dubai, as well as the recent APOA 2025 in Cairns offered further chances for our members to present, network, and engage with technological advances in orthopaedics.
Looking ahead, we aim to build on this momentum—expanding educational opportunities, increasing cross-border collaboration, and ensuring that the voices of young surgeons continue to play an active role in the evolution of our profession.
On behalf of the YSF, I thank our members and partners for their dedication and continued involvement. We look ahead with confidence as we continue building a supportive, forward-thinking community as the future of orthopaedics in the Asia-Pacific.
Sincerely,
Yudha Mathan Sakti
Chair, APOA - Young Surgeons Forum
