The Asia Pacific Orthopaedic Association invites ‘young’ members of the APOA to apply for the prestigious ‘Young Ambassadorship’ to attend the 24th Congress of APOA in Cairns, Australia from April 9 – 12, 2025. It is the APOA’s endeavour to engage the young and budding orthopaedic surgeons and nurture the leaders of tomorrow, through these ambassadorships.
Criteria for Selection:
1. Orthopaedic surgeons of <45 years of age (trainees with a minimum of 4 years of orthopaedic training or consultants within 5 years of orthopaedic graduation or equivalent training).
2. Applicant must be a member in good standing of the APOA at the time of application.
3. Successful applicants must provide evidence of registration and full payment to attend the Congress, prior to the award.
Number of Awards and Privileges Extended to the Awardees:
1. A total of 10 young ambassadors will be selected.
2. Benefits include:
a. Local hospital visits in Cairns, Australia.
b. Complimentary accommodation on twin-sharing basis.
c. Invitation to Presidential dinner and Gala Dinner.
d. A certificate to be presented at the Gala Dinner, in Cairns.
e. Reimbursement of the registration fees (to be performed at the registration counter).
Details of Application:
1. Applicants should complete the attached application form and send it along with the attachments mentioned to admin@apoaonline.com
2. Applications should be accompanied by the abstract of the presentation proposed to be presented at the Young Ambassador session.
3. Applicants are also to provide a personal statement (in <500 words) outlining what value their selection would be to APOA and to themselves.
4. The Ambassadors must also agree to submit a report of their experience within 8 weeks of the Congress.
Closing Date for Applications:
Sunday, June 30, 2024
The APOA Education Committee will select the successful applicants who will be notified by July 31, 2024.
The decision of the Committee will be final.
