The Asia Pacific Hand & Upper Limb Society (APH&ULS) is a not-for-profit professional and scientific organisation dedicated to advancing the field of hand and upper limb surgery across the region. As a subsection of the Asia Pacific Orthopaedic Association, the Society plays a vital role in strengthening subspecialty collaboration and development within orthopaedics.
Established on 31 May 2020, APH&ULS was founded with a clear mission to prioritise education and foster meaningful collaboration with established Hand, Elbow, and Shoulder societies. Since its inception, the Society has grown into a regional platform that connects clinicians, educators, and researchers who are committed to excellence in patient care and innovation.
APH&ULS is guided by a set of core objectives that shape its activities and direction. The Society strives to advance the science, art, and practice of hand, elbow, and shoulder surgery throughout the Asia Pacific region. It actively promotes professional education, research, and shared interests within the specialty, while encouraging the exchange of knowledge and solutions to clinical challenges.
In addition, APH&ULS is committed to supporting countries across the region in matters related to hand and upper limb surgery, helping to elevate standards of care and access to expertise. The Society fosters fellowship and mutual understanding among surgeons, creating a strong and collaborative professional network.
Recognising the importance of global engagement, APH&ULS works closely with international, regional, and national societies and specialty groups that share similar goals. Through these partnerships, the Society contributes to a broader exchange of ideas and best practices.
A key priority of APH&ULS is the education and training of future and current surgeons. The Society promotes, encourages, and supports initiatives that enhance learning and professional development, particularly in countries with Chapters or Federation membership.
Through its commitment to collaboration, education, and advancement, APH&ULS continues to play an important role in shaping the future of hand and upper limb surgery in the Asia Pacific region.
